Our Story
Heather Hills Club Inc. was incorporated in May, 1969. The “Club” was made possible thanks to a donation of land from developers of the Heather Hills subdivision. The Holding and Bell families both donated land for community and church development. Since its inception, the club has been entirely run by volunteer board members.
When the club first opened, only members of the Heather Hills subdivision were allowed to join. This was set up as a choice rather than an obligation, and this later turned out to be very important in the evolution of club membership. During this period, the club was a vibrant part of the community, supporting the swim team and hosting many activities, such as Christmas events, New Year’s Eve parties, and many other exciting festivities. This created lasting friendships and memories, and the club was known throughout the community as the “place to be”.
However, as years went by and parents and children of the community left, membership dwindled. As a means to keep the club open and before going bankrupt, the board formed and incorporated the Garner Swim & Recreation Club in April of 1991 and opened its doors to the rest of the community. This gave an opportunity for residents around the area to join. Once again, the club was energized, with many activities ensuing.
Today, we are extremely proud of our rich history and are focused on building for a vibrant future. We welcome everyone to come and enjoy our club and make lasting memories of your own!
